Parts Counterperson – Auto Dealership

All you need is one year of experience in a dealership parts department to change your career path for the better. We need a reliable, professional parts counterperson to purchase, sell, store, and issue parts within our busy dealership. Sure, you’ll need to be good at ordering parts and maintaining inventory, but you’ll also need excellent people skills when dealing with customers and internal staff. 

Job Responsibilities

• Determine needs and accurately specify parts accordingly
• Refer to parts manuals (both hard copy and electronic format) to identify exactly the right part(s) for the make, model and year of vehicles being serviced.
• Locate available parts when the dealership is out of stock
• Track all incoming and outgoing parts for dealership
• Create special ordered parts on dealership computer system and notify technician upon receipt
• Record warranty parts returned
• Create and modify purchase orders
• Process and close open invoices
• Compare invoices against requisitions to verify quality and quantity of merchandise received
• Keep records of outside purchases and parts received and issued
• Handle parts payment collection and make sure all parts are billed correctly through the service department
• Package and ship parts back to the manufacturer from time to time, and complete appropriate record keeping
• Perform ongoing warehouse parts inventory

Requirements

• At least one year prior parts sales experience
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift boxes, tires, wheels, and other heavy items

High school diploma or GED; One year of dealership warehouse experience and/or training; Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
